1) Show us your favorite skirt in your inventory!
I bought about 40 skirts out of an estate, where the lady obviously loved this cute a-line style from the late 1950s to early 60s. Because she had the same style skirt made by either Summit or Century, in wool, cotton, and rayon in many different colors. Here are 3 that I still have from that lot. 2)Favorite skirt length to sell? Mini, knee or maxi, and why?
I like a mid-length skirt. In any style - straight, a-line or full - the midlength always looks good and is always in style.

3)Favorite to wear?
I wear a midlength skirt, to just the knee.

4)Favorite skirt silhouette? Full, circle, pencil, mini, balloon, maxi, etc etc…what look suits you?
I like the look of a pencil skirt. For myself I like an a-line, not too straight, not too full.

5)Thoughts on slips? Some never wear them, some never would be seen without. How crucial is a slip under a skirt?
Whatever makes you comfortable. I don't wear a slip because I like my underwear covered. So I wear pettipants (over my regular underwear) under my skirts and dresses. They are comfortable, block any sheerness and they are secure. In my old retail job, I always wore skirts or dresses. Part of my job was working with moving stock, carrying boxes, climbing shelves, bending, squatting etc. So with pettipants I didn't need to worry about my skirt getting caught up in something or flashing my panties while working. Is that too much information?

I really like this sheer Black Tunic Blouse - I like that it's sheer, I like the puffed sleeves, the longer length, and I think it looks really good belted.




2)Tee shirts or blouses, whats your personal style?
I prefer pullover tops over blouses.

3)Favorite tee shirt EVER?
When I was a kid, I had a t-shirt with cartoon images of Laurel & Hardy. Later I had a t-shirt with a Kewpie on it, that our neighbor gave me.


4)Favorite era for a vintage blouse? Think 40s rayons with nipped waists, sheer ruffled 50s nylons for layering, perky 60s cotton prints…..
I love the pretty, sheer, fancy, lacey nylon blouses from the 1950s. Especially in pretty colors.

eVintage Blog Tag - Tropical Tease!

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!. Summer is the perfect time to take a holiday to a tropical locale! Meanwhile, wearing Hawaiian and exotic prints in vintage can tide you over til you can afford that plane ticket. Let’s get tropical!


1) Show us your favorite Hawaiian or tropical print in your inventory!
To the left here, I have a Green, Pink and Yellow Tropical Dress - that I tried to keep for myself. But it was just a little too big and too long on short 5'2" me. So it's available for sale at the website. It's not a basic straight maxi, it does have a little shape to is and the sleeves are wide on the ends.

2)Favorite era for Hawaiian? 40’s exotic gowns, 50s bombshell sarongs, 60s printed shifts or 70’s Hawaiian halter maxis?
I love the 1940s and 1950s for Hawaiian clothing.


3)Favorite exotic destination if money were no object?
To be honest, I have no desire to travel anywhere exotic. I'm a hermit. I don't travel well, I try to avoid crowds. I like to stick to familiarity.

4)Favorite exotic destination on a real-world budget?
I love Exotic Strathmere NJ! For me, there's no place that I'd rather be.

5)Best vacation ever?
Every Summer, for the past 26 years in Strathmere.

Warm! I get tired of wearing pants, being covered up in cold weather. Plus I wear more vintage in the Summer/warm months.

2) What is your favorite animal print to wear & why?
I don't wear animal prints very much anymore. I used to have a faux leopard fur bolero that I loved to wear.

3) Favorite to sell?
I love that Classic Vanity Fair leopard print! Nightgowns, slips, bras, panties, girdles. They leopardized everything, and each piece was fun. To me, leopard print is very 1950s Bad Girl.

4) Favorite pet and best pet story?
Well, I have to say Boris! He's such a goober there are so many stories to tell. Favorite past stores are about our Sweet ole gal Ms. Fatty. She loved to visit my grandparents, who lived right behind us. You could say 'mom-mom pop-pop' and Ms. Fatty would get all excite, she knew exactly where we were going! She used to run across the yard to their house. And then walk home super-super slow

5) Scared of animals? Which one scares you the most & why?
Rats - sneeky, destructive little bastards.

6) Favorite animal to visit at the zoo or to collect images of?
I haven't been to the zoo since I was in scholl. But I love watching shows about elephants. They have such a strong society and they are so sensitive and sweet to each other.

evintage blog tag - Swingtown

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!. Fans of the 70s, rejoice!! Last week CBS premiered a new series called SWING TOWN. Set in 1976, the show features 3 couples and their families…..a childless couple with loads of money, toys and an open marriage….a young couple with a teenage boy trying to define their relationship….and a more conservative couple facing a changing world. It also features some fab 70s clothes and music! Lets talk 70s!

1) Show us your favorite 70s piece in your inventory, mens, womens, dress, lingerie…..whatever you LOVE!

Well, I don't exactly Love it, but I think it's a pretty cool print. Maxi Jersey Gown by La Mendola -


2) Define disco wear as YOU see it.

When I was a kid, I was in the 'Disco Sucks' crowd. Now I have a better appreciation of the music, but not so much with the clothing. When I think of Disco, I think of desperate people trying to get into Studio 54, bra-less girls in halter tops, men in platform shoes and polyester pants, blue eyeshadow, cocaine, Liza Minelli, Bianca Jagger etc.

3) What was your favorite look of the 70s? The maxi dress? Bell bottoms? Culottes? Do tell.

Well, I was wearing culottes in the 1970s, but only because I was about 10, and didn't know any better. My aunt had a ton of super tight pants with bell bottoms. She had to put them on when they were still damp and lay on the bed and use a hook to pull up the zipper. She also had a great collection of super high platforms - Mary Janes and a pair of really cool carved wooden ones still stand out in my mind. She drove a Camaro too. I thought she was very cool. If I were an adult in the 70s, I'd probably be wearing gauzey, clingy jersey dresses, with a scarf ties around my head and big sunglasses.

4) Your neighbors invite you to a wild party where there may be disco music. Do you go?

I don't go to any parties, and I call the police if the music is too loud (unless it's something that I really like)

5) Grant Show. Sexy then? Sexy now? No idea?

No idea who he is. Was he the guy who played Miles on Murphy Brown?

6) Romantic Gunne Sax Prairie/Renn Queen or Disco Diva? Whats your style?

Choose or die? I guess I would go with the Romantic look because disco is a little too skin-flashy polyester-sweaty for me.

evintage blog tag - Sex & The City (sorry)

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!.
You can’t turn on the TV, walk past a magazine rack at the market or eavesdrop on ladies chatting at lunch (what, like you don’t do that?) without being assaulted with images and stories about the big screen debut of “Sex and the City” - Unfortunately. I'm sick of hearing about it. I'm one of the 9 people in the world who wasn't a fan of the show, but I'm playing along with this week's blog theme.

1)We know Carrie favors vintage, but let’s dress them all! Like cyber paperdolls. To kick it off, show us a piece you think the quirky, eclectic and whimsical Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) would look great in from your inventory.

Do you have to ask? I am not a fan of the show. I've seen a few episodes, but I don't really like shows about women talking to each other and relationship stuff. The clothing alone wasn't enough to keep me interested. Slutty girls who spend too much money on shoes - I can't relate. If I'm going to spend $500, I'd rather get 15-20 pairs of shoes rather than 1 pair.

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!.
Temperatures are rising and its time to show some skin! The halter neckline is a great way to leave a little to the imagination while exposing enough to stay cool and stylish. Lets talk halters!

1) Show us your favorite halter dress or top in your inventory
For an evening out on the town, I have this Black Velvet Halter Dress with Rhinestones



2)Marilyn rocked the halter bodice back in the 50s, but it came back big in the 70s…..which is your favorite era for the halter?
Def the 1950s, glamorous and sexy! The 70s make me think of hippies with saggy titties and hairy underarms! (just kidding hippie girls) Although 1970s Disco halters were pretty hot.

3)Bare backs are vulnerable, what’s your suggestion for protecting skin from the sun?
A little shawl that you could let slip off your shoulder now and then. A pretty parasol if you are outside most of the day. Or yummy coconut smelling sun tan lotion.

4)Halter as top or dress, whats your preference?
I like the look of both. I've always had a hard time wearing a halter though. One because I refuse to go without a bra and also because I have a big squishy mole on my back.

5)A bra can be a challenge…..best suggestion for support?
A challenge indeed. I never go out without a bra, so this has always been hard for me. Strapless bras uusally leave me pulling them up all day. I bought one of those bras with clear plastic straps from Victoria's Secret a few years ago. But the plastic is shiny and very obvious looking, so I never wore the bra. I need a halter that has built in support that doesn't move around. I bought a halter bathing suit top from Old Navy that does have cup support and I actually wore that out in the yard this weekend, leaving me with a halter strap tanline!

evintage Blog Tag - Slips!

1) Show us your favorite vintage slip in your inventory -
Zoinks, there are so many that I love - I have 14 pages of Slips currently for sale! There's a great selection, many came from the estate of the same lady, who loved lingerie in pretty colors.
My current very favorite slip is this pale blue-green by Aristocraft. It has beautiful lace around the bottom.



And then here are some more pretties that I can't resist showing off.




2) Lace trim or chiffon trim? Whats your favorite?
The lacier the better!

3)Colors or neutrals, whats your preference?
I love the pretty colors of slips, but to be honest, the ones I wear myself are usually ivory or black.

4)Favorite label in vintage lingerie? (Vintage Vanity Fair, Vassarette, Movie Star, Barbizon?.)
I love Van Raalte slips. They are always beautiful designs, pretty colors and easy to spot quality. As soon as you touch a Van Raalte, you know it's one before you even spot the label.

5)Full slip or half?
For myself I'd say full slips under dresses. Mainly because a full slip means less around the waist and I get bothered by elastic around my waist.

6)Slips worn as dresses in public?..yea or nay?
Sure. I've never worn a slip as a dress myself, but I have worn opaque half slips as skirts on many occasions in the Summer. I lreally like the look of an older silk or rayon slip worn as a dress. As long as it's done nicely, and not trashy.

evintage blog tag - Frank Sinatra

'Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!.
Out of 50,000 suggested faces to place on a United States Postage stamp each year, only 20 are selected. This year, on the 10 year anniversary of FRANK SINATRA’S death, the USPS issued a stamp honoring Ol’ Blue Eyes. '

Well, I am not a Sinatra fan, but here we go.
1) Show your favorite Rat Pack look in your inventory (early 60s suit, fedora, tie, cufflinks, loop collar shirt…..)
I don't know about 'Rat Pack' but here is a very cool vintage mens silk shirt that I currently have for sale -

2) Favorite Sinatra song? I don't have one. They did play 'Come Fly with Me' in a Rocko cartoon once. I liked that. But I don't know if it was actually Sinatra singing or a cover version.
3) Favorite Rat Pack member? (Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis Jr. or Peter Lawford) I'm not a follower of those guys, so I'm not a fan of any of them.
4) Best Sinatra “era”? (40s young & skinny, 50s swingin’ crooner or 60s Rat Pack suave?) I don't know. I only think of him as being Old and cranky.
5) Favorite Sinatra wife? (Nancy, Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow or Barbara) Again, I don't know. I don't know anything about Nancy or Barbara. Mia Farrow obviously had bad taste in men.
6) Been to Vegas, how many times and best Vegas story (keep it clean!) Never been to Vegas, not my kind of town. (I'm a hermit, I'm happy in Jersey)

I have this really cool Nelly Don Hieroglyphic print dress - blue and white on black cotton.


WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF NOVELTY PRINT?
Something other than the normal flowers, plaid or checks. Something fun with a little whimsy.

MOST AMAZING NOVELTY PRINT YOU’VE EVER SEEN?
There was a Dorothy O'Hara 1940s Buddha print dress that was awesome and a 1950s dress that had crows in the shapes of letters.

SIZE MATTERS….WHEN WEARING PRINTS, DO YOU PREFER BIG OR SMALL?
I like them both. Something tiny to make people really look or something big to make people go Wow!

COLOR OR BLACK AND WHITE?
For novelty prints I like color, for more fun.

WHAT DESIGNER DOES YOUR FAVORITE PRINTS? (think Shaheen, Pucci, etc)
I love Vested Gentress novelty print - frogs playing golf, horses with tails, dogs with fire hydrants.

This week's eVintage Blog Tag theme is the Maxi Dress - 'We’ve been hearing it nearly every Spring the last few years . . . the maxi dress is back! Vintage sellers rush to their stashes of full length 70s dresses ready to supply the fashion forward with the real deal. A newer spin by the industry touts the maxi length as a “patio dress”

MAXI OR PATIO DRESS, AND WHY?
I like the sound of Patio Dress, it makes the maxi seem like a more casual kind of dress, for everyday wear.

FAVORITE MAXI DRESS IN YOUR INVENTORY?
Here's a rainbow of Maxi Dress styles - a great Mexican Wedding dress - perfect for casual Summer wear, a Tropical-Hawaiian type maxi in super lightweight fabric, Black Cotton velvet maxi for the Goth Gals and a strappy Maxi-Cocktail for an evening out on the town.




AS A TREND, WILL IT BE A HIT OR A MISS?
I think a Maxi or two could easily work their way into your wardrobe. I'm not a big follower of what celebrities wear, but I have to admit that Gwen Stefani makes a Maxi look very good - for a casual day at the beach or out at a special event.




DO YOU WEAR MAXI DRESSES OR SKIRTS?
I'm short, so it's a hard look for me to pull off.

PROS AND CONS?
A Maxi dress seems like an easy outfit to put together with just a few accessories. Cons would be finding the right print and style for your height and shape.

eVintage Tag - Color My World

Time for the eVintage Blog Tag and I was tagged by Julie from Damn Good Vintage . This week's theme is Color!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?
If you are a regular reader you already know that - Green! All shades of green. Also aqua and blue-greens.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BRIGHTLY COLOURED PIECE IN YOUR INVENTORY?
Neither is green and neither is actually bright, but I love the colors on both. First, I think the color combo on the Brown nylon nightgown with the pink and bright aqua stripes is really cool. Then the pale aqua-blue slip by Aristocraft is very pretty, especially with the slight darker embroidery on the lace trims.



WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO ADD COLOUR TO AN OUTFIT?
If I'm wearing all black, I'll put on a sweater that is colorful or carry a colorful purse.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOUR TO WEAR?
Black. Because it's easy, and sometimes I'm lazy when I'm trying to decide what to wear.

WHAT COLOUR ARE YOU WEARING RIGHT NOW?
Black t-shirt and jeans, both from Old Navy. I know, no vintage!

WHAT COLOURS DO YOU DECORATE WITH?
Green! I also like the green with light pink and yellow. Kind of shabby vintage style, with a little bit of gold and black Oriental accents thrown in here and there.

1) SHOW US YOUR FAVORITE PAIR OF SHOES IN YOUR INVENTORY.
I love these 1940s Peep Toe Wingtip-style Shoes. They are small though, sz5-1/2 or 6. Too narrow for my wide feet. Sadly, I don't handle very many shoes, I wish I came across more of them in sellable condition. But I do have several pairs listed - http://www.dandelionvintage.com/shoes.html




2) WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STYLE OF VINTAGE SHOE TO SELL?
I like high vamp 1930s shoes, 1940s Dancing shoes, good old classic Granny Swing Shoes, 1940s platforms and 1950s 'Bad Girl' shoes like Springolator's, Lucite heels etc.

3) FAVORITE VINTAGE SHOE TO WEAR?
I love 1940-50s shoes, Slingbacks, wedges, semi-casual with lowish heels. I tend to wear vintage shoes from Spring to early Fall, I don't have many Winter-wear vintage shoes.

4) FAVORITE PAIR YOU OWN?
I bought these 5 pairs of shoes last Summer. All from the same seller on ebay. The black slingbacks with the low heels got the most wear last Summer and I can't wait until the weather starts to warm so that I can start wearing them again!



HOLY GRAIL OF SHOES?
I don't think that I have a single Holy Grail of shoes - Other than finding a great stash of 1940-50s sz6 Wide shoes to fit me and then a big stash of larger sized shoes to sell!
