Just a few more hydrangea photos!

Let me torture/bore you with some more photos of my pretty, pretty hydrangeas! They are just so pretty this year, loaded with flowers.

I'm here on a semi-vacation for the next week or so. With sporadic internet access on my laptop.

2 weeks old!

Here she is, little no name beauty, at 2 weeks old. Her eyes are open and her nose is starting to turn black. She's already looking so much bigger. Only 5 weeks and 6 days to go until we get her!

1 week old!

Here are the latest photos of our little girl. I don't know why they are in black and white, or maybe the lighting was low. Her ears are down now and she's getting fat. Her hair looks thick for being so young. Look at the little wrinkles on her leg.
I bet she's a squeaky little thing.

She'll be ours August 7th.

Me & My Mermaids, and hydrangeas

I love mermaids. Here are a few from my collection -

Here are a few of my Coral Kingdom Gals -

And a few more Coral Kingdom Gals on top of the medicine cabinet in the bathroom -

This was a copy that I made of a vintage postcard from ebay. Very unusual mermaid lady with fabric wrapped around her forming a tail. I have a set of 3 of them -

Two vintage mermaid gal, the first is plastic the other is porcelain and she has a sister too.

Next are two mermiad dolls, both bought on ebay many years ago. The first was a handmade doll, the other is Melinda Mermaid by Dakin

And now onto my hydrangeas at the shore, which are starting to bloom and they are so pretty! A new bush that we planted is getting flowers on it already and they are the prettiest shade of pale lavender. Another new bush has pink flowers. I just love the variety of shades within the hydrangeas, they are so pretty. I love to cut fresh flowers for little arrangements in the house.

My bushes out back have been in for a few years and they are starting to bloom too. They look like they are going to have a ton of flowers on them this year.

eVintage Blog Tag - Animal Prints

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!.

Animals…..we love ‘em, we love to wear ‘em! Prints, that is (fur is another and much more sensitive topic for another blog). Show us your animal prints!

1) Show us your favorite piece of animal print apparel in your inventory!

Vanity Fair Leopard Print Nightie sz34

2) What is your favorite animal print to wear & why?
I don't wear animal prints very much anymore. I used to have a faux leopard fur bolero that I loved to wear.

3) Favorite to sell?
I love that Classic Vanity Fair leopard print! Nightgowns, slips, bras, panties, girdles. They leopardized everything, and each piece was fun. To me, leopard print is very 1950s Bad Girl.

4) Favorite pet and best pet story?
Well, I have to say Boris! He's such a goober there are so many stories to tell. Favorite past stores are about our Sweet ole gal Ms. Fatty. She loved to visit my grandparents, who lived right behind us. You could say 'mom-mom pop-pop' and Ms. Fatty would get all excite, she knew exactly where we were going! She used to run across the yard to their house. And then walk home super-super slow

5) Scared of animals? Which one scares you the most & why?
Rats - sneeky, destructive little bastards.

6) Favorite animal to visit at the zoo or to collect images of?
I haven't been to the zoo since I was in scholl. But I love watching shows about elephants. They have such a strong society and they are so sensitive and sweet to each other.

Guess what??!!

Look who will to be coming to live with us! She was just born a few days ago, so it's going to be a very long 8 weeks until we get her. She's an English bulldog and we are buying her from the same breeder that we bought Boris from. The breeder will be sending us weekly photos (hopefully) so we can see her grow. And I can post her photos here and drive you crazy talking about how much longer we have until we get her! And of course there will be a discussion about names too.
She's so sweet and I am totally in love with her already. She's all white except for a cute little spot on her fanny.

Here I am

I haven't done a regular post here since Memorial Day Weekend! I guess I've just been busy, I don't know what I've been doing! Working on vintage, going to the shore, spoiling my dog, etc.
I usually work 7 days a week in the Winter, but in the Summer I actually takes some time off and go to the shore every weekend. So squeezing my Winter schedule to get everything I normally do in 7 days, done in 5 days, takes a little adjusting to. I think I'm caught up.
It's been super hot here, and going in and out of air conditioning usually gives me a headache. Since I've been on my vitamin routine to lower my blood pressure, I find that my headache and sinus troubles aren't as bad. So that's something that I'm very thankful for during the heatwave (now watch, I'll be in bed all day with a migraine tomorrow)
I can't be in bed tomorrow though, because I have a vintage appointment! But it's with my gal who usually cancels 2-3 times before we finally get together, so we'll see if the meeting takes place tomorrow (she already switched from today til tomorrow) This gal usually brings me lingerie and purses. I'll post some preview photos when I get my hands on the stuff.

Here are some photos. Here's our pretty yard with the Laurel all in bloom. We're back in the woods and our driveway is so pretty to drive down because it's lined with wild laurel on both sides. That's my Dad's car. I'm baking a cake for Father's Day.

My Dad also bought an orange truck. Yeah, orange. It has a yellow bumper and Tweetie Bird floor mats! If you look close, you can see that Boris likes it.

Boris is doing fine by the way. No signs of any trouble now, it's like he was never sick. Although a chunk of something blew out of his nose the other day. It looked like a piece of dog food. He's such a goober.

Bye for now, Carol

evintage blog tag - Swingtown

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!. Fans of the 70s, rejoice!! Last week CBS premiered a new series called SWING TOWN. Set in 1976, the show features 3 couples and their families…..a childless couple with loads of money, toys and an open marriage….a young couple with a teenage boy trying to define their relationship….and a more conservative couple facing a changing world. It also features some fab 70s clothes and music! Lets talk 70s!

1) Show us your favorite 70s piece in your inventory, mens, womens, dress, lingerie…..whatever you LOVE!

Well, I don't exactly Love it, but I think it's a pretty cool print. Maxi Jersey Gown by La Mendola -

2) Define disco wear as YOU see it.

When I was a kid, I was in the 'Disco Sucks' crowd. Now I have a better appreciation of the music, but not so much with the clothing. When I think of Disco, I think of desperate people trying to get into Studio 54, bra-less girls in halter tops, men in platform shoes and polyester pants, blue eyeshadow, cocaine, Liza Minelli, Bianca Jagger etc.

3) What was your favorite look of the 70s? The maxi dress? Bell bottoms? Culottes? Do tell.

Well, I was wearing culottes in the 1970s, but only because I was about 10, and didn't know any better. My aunt had a ton of super tight pants with bell bottoms. She had to put them on when they were still damp and lay on the bed and use a hook to pull up the zipper. She also had a great collection of super high platforms - Mary Janes and a pair of really cool carved wooden ones still stand out in my mind. She drove a Camaro too. I thought she was very cool. If I were an adult in the 70s, I'd probably be wearing gauzey, clingy jersey dresses, with a scarf ties around my head and big sunglasses.

4) Your neighbors invite you to a wild party where there may be disco music. Do you go?

I don't go to any parties, and I call the police if the music is too loud (unless it's something that I really like)

5) Grant Show. Sexy then? Sexy now? No idea?

No idea who he is. Was he the guy who played Miles on Murphy Brown?

6) Romantic Gunne Sax Prairie/Renn Queen or Disco Diva? Whats your style?

Choose or die? I guess I would go with the Romantic look because disco is a little too skin-flashy polyester-sweaty for me.

evintage blog tag - Sex & The City (sorry)

Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!.
You can’t turn on the TV, walk past a magazine rack at the market or eavesdrop on ladies chatting at lunch (what, like you don’t do that?) without being assaulted with images and stories about the big screen debut of “Sex and the City”
- Unfortunately. I'm sick of hearing about it. I'm one of the 9 people in the world who wasn't a fan of the show, but I'm playing along with this week's blog theme.

1)We know Carrie favors vintage, but let’s dress them all! Like cyber paperdolls. To kick it off, show us a piece you think the quirky, eclectic and whimsical Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) would look great in from your inventory.

Here is a bright and bold purple & Pink dress by Hanoe Mori, a sure attention getter -

2)Samantha (Kim Cattrall) works the vampy edge of fashion…what do you have in your inventory that can bring out the temptress in a woman?

Sexy and yet classy bright red fitted dress with tie shoulders -

3)Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) tends to play it safe, tending toward clean lines and classic silhouettes with the occassional sexy edge. What do you have in your inventory for her?

Batik print Oriental Style dress - Classic style but fitted and sexy

4)Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is often seen in more feminine, flirty and girlie pieces. What vintage dress or ensemble do you have that would work for her character?

Sweet and flirty, White full skirted eyelet dress -

5) Sex and the City Shoes. Stilettos? Of course! If you’ve got some vintage shoes to rival Carrie’s Jimmy Choos, show ‘em off here!
No Stilettos here, sorry

6)Love the show? Hate the show? Never seen it? Do tell. No spoilers if you’ve seen the movie!
Do you have to ask? I am not a fan of the show. I've seen a few episodes, but I don't really like shows about women talking to each other and relationship stuff. The clothing alone wasn't enough to keep me interested. Slutty girls who spend too much money on shoes - I can't relate. If I'm going to spend $500, I'd rather get 15-20 pairs of shoes rather than 1 pair.
